Baileys Senior Soft & Lite is a unique low starch, reduced calorie, high fibre blend designed to provide optimum nutrition to older horses and ponies.
It contains no whole cereal flakes, so starch and sugar levels are low enough (starch 8%, sugar 3%) to be gentle on the digestive system and suitable for those with PPID (Cushing’s) and/or prone to laminitis. Its delicious blend of fibre sources supplies reduced levels of slow release calories and includes natural Prealpine meadow grasses, in the form of flakes of Natural Meadow Cobs, plus highly digestible superfibres. This blend also provides fibre variety for both the horse’s palate and the different species within the gut microbiome, helping to encourage a healthy microbial balance.
Protein levels are designed to ensure the dietary building blocks are supplied for ongoing muscle maintenance and tissue repair. Senior Soft & Lite is also fully balanced with vitamins and minerals to support light work and contains micronised linseed and soya oil for a shiny coat. The feed contains a unique triple digestive support package in the form of FOS and MOS prebiotics, live probiotic yeast and innovative postbiotics, all of which support a healthy microbiome which, in turn, can have positive effects on immunity and gut-brain connectivity, as well as a healthy gut lining. Sustainably produced UK-grown whole nettle is included, supplying antioxidant polyphenols and flavonoids, and key vitamins and minerals, which support the body’s response to stress and inflammation.
Senior Soft & Lite contains extracts of flavours of essential oils to tempt the fussiest of feeders, and can be fed dry, to those with full dentition and who will benefit from the extra chew time. It also soaks to a delicious soft mash in around 10 minutes, in cold water, making it ideal for those with poor teeth and/or diastemas, who need to avoid chaffy feeds.
